For The Longest Time (Episode 10)

Laksh and Ragini exchanged rings and were taking everyone’s blessings. Sanskar walked towards Swara and stood beside her. She blushed and made it a point to avoid eye contact. “You look different, from the last time I saw you” he said “You’ve become more beautiful” he said, she blushed harder. “Thank you” she said without looking at him. She was afraid; her eyes would convey her feelings to him. “So you talk to everyone like this? By not looking at them?” he teased, she looked at him and he held her gaze “No, it’s nothing like that” she said hesitantly. He laughed and said “Relax, I’m just joking” and she blushed harder. Laksh and Ragini noticed them talking “Lucky, is it my imagination or do you sense something between them?” she asked. Laksh gave a knowing smile and said “I saw something between them the first time they met”. “WHAT” she glared at him “why didn’t you tell me something before” she asked, “You were clearly not comfortable with their relationship and you spoke to bhai, what would I have told you” he said. She looked at them “I’m still not convinced, but I can read in Shona’s eyes that she has feelings for him”; “Let them figure it out on their own, let’s see where their destiny takes them” he said.

The day of haldi arrived, entire Gadodia house was decorated in tones of yellow and white. Ragini was made to sit in the centre of the hall and the elder started the rituals, the happiness was evident on her face, she was glowing. Sanskar entered Gadodia house with the Shagun haldi, Shramishtha greeted him “Thank you very much Sanskar. I would ask you to come in but this is a ladies function, I’m afraid I cannot invite you in”; “Please aunty, don’t be so formal, I’m aware of the rituals” he smiled; he bent to touch her feet and take blessings. Just as he was about to leave, a kid stained his shirt with haldi. “Sorry bhaiyya” the kid apologised, “No problem kiddo, you go and play” he patted the kid’s hair and smiled. “Sanskar, honey go and wash of this stain, the washroom is in the room towards your right” Shramishtha said; “Thank you, aunty. I’ll take a few minutes and leave” he said and went to the room.

When Sanskar came out of the washroom, he saw a girl struggling to tie strings at the back, “Shona, come quickly” Shramishtha’s voice came from the hall, “I will be there in 2 minutes Ma” the girl replied. As he moved closer, he saw her face in the mirror. He went closer to her, mesmerized by the way her yellow dress complimented her, her hair was loosely braided and strands of hair framed her face. As he moved closer, she felt someone moving behind her, then she saw Sanskar in the mirror and froze, he kept coming closer, she could see the intensity in his eyes, it matched the one in her eyes. He took the strings in his hands and started tying, while staring at her. They both held each other’s eyes, through the mirror. She could feel his breath on her nape, and he realised how close they were. Suddenly their chemistry erupted in the air between them, he brushed his finger on her nape and she shuddered, her breath became heavier, so did his. They lost every bit of control they had on their actions. He held her shoulders and kissed her neck. Her heartbeat increased and her legs went jelly. If he wasn’t holding her, she would have fallen. He turned her around to face him. He could see the coyness in her eyes, he brushed his thumb over her collar bone and she shuddered again, he saw her lips quivering, and had an overwhelming urge to kiss her. “Shona, are you ready yet?” came a voice. They came to their senses and realised what just happened. She got embarrassed and ran out. He also left without getting noticed.

That night, both of them could not sleep. They kept thinking about what had happened. Next day the families met to decide about the sangeet. Swara and Sanskar avoided each other as much as they could. “I think we should have a combined sangeet” Laksh said; “Everyone will dance in pairs”; “I think that’s a good idea” Durgaprasad said. “The couples will dance with each other, and others will be paired according to their relation to Laksh and Ragini” Shekhar suggested. Sanskar and Swara looked at each other. I can hardly control myself when I am around her, now dancing with her is going to push me over the edge he thought. Being close to him messes my sanity, how will I dance with him without losing my senses she thought.

Swara and Sanskar were paired together, and the theme of their dance was to portray Laksh and Ragini’s love story. They decided to dance on the song A thousand years. They weren’t aware of the fact that Laksh and Ragini had chosen this for them on purpose. They wanted to see their chemistry. Every time Sanskar and Swara danced together, their chemistry grew stronger, and it was visible to Laksh and Ragini. “I think have still not acknowledged their feelings” Ragini said to Laksh. Laksh nodded in agreement “I know and it’s frustrating me”; “sometimes I feel like shaking them and make them realise that they love each other”, then he gave a grin and said “if only they were smart like us, to realise it sooner” Ragini blushed “Stop it Lucky” she said.

The day of sangeet arrived. As the time for their dance came closer, their hearts started beating faster. Laksh and Ragini danced on You Belong With Me, their performance reflected their love for each other, it mirrored their feelings and everyone could see how happy they were. It was time for Sanskar and Swara’s performance, they came on stage and looked at each other and everyone disappeared. Looking into each other’s eyes, like always, they felt complete, nothing else mattered. They started dancing, and their chemistry sparkled, the air around them sparkled with their intimacy. Everyone could see they were bound together. Their performance ended and there was silence all around. Laksh and Ragini smiled. Before it got more awkward, Laksh and Ragini started clapping. It was their claps that got Swara and Sanskar back into their senses. While everyone clapped, Annapurna and Shramishtha came to Laksh and Ragini. “So kids, what are you both smiling about” Shramishtha asked them. “Ma, their performance was so good” Ragini tried to cover up. “Yeah, the performance was very good, and a very believable too” Annapurna said. “How much do you both know?” Annapurna asked. Laksh and Ragini looked at each other “if you both don’t tell us, your late night dates which you sneak out for will be banned” Shramishtha blackmailed them, while Annapurna laughed. “You both know about that?” Laksh asked them. “Yes, and now tell us. What is going on between both of them?” Annapurna asked. “They both haven’t acknowledged their feelings yet” Ragini said “But as you can see. They both definitely love each other”. Annapurna and Shramishtha looked at each other and said “Leave that to us. We’ll make sure they confess before you get married”; “but till then, no one should know about it” Annapurna said.

Laksh and Ragini grinned in all glory. “Nobody will know” they said in unison. Meanwhile Sanskar and Swara who were fighting their feelings and felt that they were losing control of themselves. The entire night their eyes were locked with each other. They were not aware of what was going around them.

I need to tell her that I love her he thought. I need to confess to him that I love him she thought

For The Longest Time (Episode 9)

Laksh and Ragini got up with a headache in the morning; they saw Sanskar on the dining table with a sarcastic smile on his face. “How much did I drink?” Ragini asked him, while Laksh put his head on the table. Sanskar gave a little laugh and said “You and Lucky gulped down an entire week’s worth of drink in one night”; she hit his arm lightly and put her head in her hands. He got two glasses of lemon water for both of them, and patted Laksh “Lucky stop blabbering and drink this”. After a while Ragini and Laksh started to recover from their hangover “How much Shona drink? She’s still sleeping” Ragini asked. “I was so busy in tackling the two of you, I didn’t notice how much drank” he said without looking at her. “Oh god, my head still hurts” Laksh whined, and then he noticed packed bags near the couch. “You’re leaving?” he asked looking at Sanskar. “What? You’re leaving already?” she asked Sanskar. “You both are acting as if I came here to stay forever” he said with a laugh “Yes, I am leaving. But I will be back in a few months” he said casually. “My flight is in 3 hours, so I have to leave now” he said while getting up. He went and hugged Ragini and kissed her on top of her head “Take care of yourself and Lucky, I shall see you guys soon” he said. He then hugged Laksh, who whispered in his ear “You will leave without meeting her?” he waited for an answer, but looking at Sanskar’s face Laksh understood he was leaving because of her. He gave him an understanding nod and went to see him off.

“House feels so empty without Sanskar” Ragini said to Laksh, just then Swara came into the living room “My head hurts” she complained as she sat between Ragini and Laksh, they laughed at her and Ragini went to get lemon water for Swara. She looked around and asked “Is Sanskar still sleeping?” Laksh looked at her and said “He left for Kolkata a while ago” he noticed her expression change, as she whispered to herself “he left without meeting me”. “Is something wrong Shona?” he asked her, before she could answer “Here, drink this you will feel better” Ragini said while handing her the glass of water. She took the glass “I’ll go freshen up” and went to her room. Why did he leave without meeting me? She thought; maybe I am overthinking, why will he meet me before leaving, we’ve just known each other for 2 days she pacified herself

Months passed, it was the end of the academic year. Swara had cleared her first year exams and had gone into second year. Laksh and Ragini had graduated. On their graduation day, they decided to tell their parents about their relationship. It was a rather funny scene when both of them fumbled while introducing each other to their respective families. Annapurna Maheshwari and Shramishtha Gadodia were rather amused at their kids’ failed attempts to declare their relationship and came to their rescue. Durgaprasad Maheshwari and Shekhar Gadodia could hardly control their laughter looking at their kids blush. While Swara enjoyed this entire scene like there was a rom com going on. Ragini and Laksh went through a lot of teasing and interrogation from each other’s parents they finally got an approval to their relationship. They decided to get engaged the following year after they both got settled in their jobs.

Months had passed Swara and Sanskar didn’t meet each other. Even though they had known each other for a very short span of time, being away from each other had made them long each other’s company even more. Neither of them had acknowledged their feelings. Laksh, Ragini and Swara were still staying together. Laksh and Ragini had started working at the Mumbai branch of Maheshwari Industries that Sanskar had set up. Their engagement date was approaching as the months went by. Along with Ragini even Swara had grown close to the Maheshwari’s. Soon the year ended and Swara had also graduated. The three of them decided to go back to Kolkata, for Laksh and Ragini’s engagement.

The arrangements had started in full swing. Ragini and Laksh were experiencing the happiest phase of their life. They were happy that their relationship had grown over the years and that they would now spend the rest of their life together. Swara on the other hand was anticipating to meet Sanskar. A year had passed since they last met, but even today her heart skipped a beat even by hearing his name. She had never understood how she got so attached to him in just a few days of staying together. The last she heard of him was that he had gone to US for expanding his business there. She wondered if he even remembered her.

The day of engagement had arrived; the ceremony was taking place in the Maheswari mansion. They decided to only include close family and friends to celebrate this occasion. Laksh was waiting to see Ragini. During the arrangements both of them couldn’t see each other, since they were given strict instructions and Annapurna and Shramishtha made sure that swarm of cousins followed each of them wherever they went. Laksh sat in the middle of the hall in his royal blue Sherwani, Ragini loved this colour on him, and thinking of her got a smile on his face. He then noticed Ragini, descending down the stairs. He felt as though he was seeing her after years. She looked beautiful in her navy blue lehenga with gold work and the dupatta covering the top of her head. He had never seen he in this attire and he was thankful for that. Otherwise he would never get this feeling of falling in love with her all over again. Ragini was made to sit beside Laksh. She was blushing because of the way Laksh was staring at her, he leaned to her and whispered “I think I just fell in love with you, all over again”, she felt as  though she would turn all shades of red if she blushed any harder. Swara noticed this and started teasing them. “Shona, I forgot to bring the ring, get it from the room” Shramishtha said. She nodded and went to get the ring, as she was coming down the stairs; she was about to trip, when a pair of strong hands held her. She opened her eyes to see piercing brown eyes gazing at her.

In the past year Sanskar had made all attempts to get Swara out of his mind, but in vain. He travelled places, met new people; casually dated a few girls, but he just could not forget her. Swara had captured his mind and heart. While returning from US, he was happy about Laksh and Ragini’s engagement, but he was happier about the fact that he would see Swara after and year. When he entered the hall, he saw someone slipping from the stairs and rushed to help her. When he saw her face he could not take his eyes off her. Her gaze held him, moments had stopped, he observed e face carefully, she had a pierced nose and was wearing a nose ring, the kohl intensified the beauty of her eyes, even though she looked mature than the last time, the innocence hadn’t left her. “Shona are you alright” Shramishtha and Annapurna came to help her, their voices broke the trance that Sanskar and Swara were in. “Thank you” she said to him, he nodded at her. “Finally you came, I thought you would miss the ceremony” Annapurna said as she hugged him. Sanskar went and hugged Laksh and kissed the top of Ragini’s head while hugging her and said “welcome to the family, sweetheart”. She grinned in response. The ceremony started, during which Sanskar was constantly looking at Swara, she looked amazing in the pink saree that she wore. He had half a mind to kiss her and with all the passion he had buried for the past one year. She could feel the burn of his gaze on her. She avoided looking in his direction, it was taking all her will to not lose her control and hug him.

All this time, and my heart still skips a beat every time you look at me she thought. All this time and I still can’t control my feelings for you he thought.

For The Longest Time (Episode 8)

Swara woke up and found Sanskar leaning on her. She tried to move without disturbing him, but he woke up with a jerk, Swara got embarrassed by their posture “I’m sorry, I didn’t realise when I fell asleep” he said, Ragini interrupted their moment “Shona, get ready quickly, you’ll get late for your lectures”, Swara composed herself and rushed to her room. “Sanskar, you also get ready, I’ll make breakfast for everyone” Ragini said. Ragini, Laksh and Sanskar were having their breakfast when Swara rushed in and said “Bye guys, I’m getting late. I’ll have my breakfast in college” she was about to leave when Sanskar said “I’ll drop you. I’m anyway leaving now”, Ragini was about to say something, when Laksh whispered to her “Not now, we’ll talk to him when Shona is not around”, she reluctantly kept quiet. “No, its okay, I will manage. It will be an unnecessary hassle for you” Swara said; “There’s no hassle, I will drop you” he said while getting up from the table. She smiled and thanked him and they left. “Laksh we’ll talk to Sanskar today” Ragini said, Laksh nodded.

There was an awkward silence between them. Every time they looked at each other, the morning scene flashed in front of their eyes, he noticed that Swara had been hesitating since morning “Are you alright Swara? I mean you have been hesitant with me since morning” he asked her. “I’m just worried about reaching college on time. I need to submit these assignments” she lied. He gave her a questioning look “Sure?” she gave a smile and said “Yes, I’m sure”. The truth was she felt something and she hadn’t been able to pin point exactly what the feeling was and that was making her restless. They reached her college; she got down from the car, thanked him and walked towards the gate. He waited there, looking at her walking towards the gate, he didn’t realise there was a goofy smile plastered on his face, until that smile disappeared when he saw her excitedly hugging a guy and then entering the college with him. Sanskar Maheshwari was aware that he was attracted to her, but he didn’t know what to call this feeling, where he felt like killing that guy who just touched her. Irritated he left from there for his conference.

In the evening Ragini and Laksh were home from college. They found Sanskar in the living room, working on his laptop. Laksh sat beside him “You’re back early” he said. Sanskar shut his laptop and turned to him “Yeah, the conference ended early, thankfully”. Ragini also sat with them, and signalled Laksh that she was going to talk to Sanskar. “I’ll get coffee for everyone” he said and left. “Sanskar, I need to talk to you about something” she started, he nodded and she continued “I want you to keep distance from Shona; I’m not saying that you’re trying something or anything of that sorts. But Shona is like a kid and is very vulnerable. And I don’t want her getting close to any relation that will not materialise in future. I have seen the way you have been looking at her, and we both know that you have commitment issues. I just want to stop this right here before it goes any further” she looked at him, expecting him to be offended. He smiled at her and said “Don’t worry Rags, I assure you I’ll never do anything that will hurt you. I promise to never cross that line.” She smiled and hugged him “You don’t know how much you’ve relieved me” just then Laksh entered he saw them and understood that Ragini had sorted out everything. “Coffee everyone” he announced “Baby, what time will Swara be home. Her lectures finished early today” he asked Ragini. “It’s Karan’s birthday today, she’s gone with her friends to celebrate. She called me that she will be back by 1. Karan is going to drop her” she informed Laksh. He looked at her disapprovingly and said “I will go pick her up”, she laughed and said “That is why she doesn’t tell you anything.” “Don’t worry, I know Karan, he will bring her back safe”. Laksh frowned and Sanskar sat there expressionless. “Alright then, I’m off to sleep” Ragini announced, she kissed Laksh and went to her room.

Laksh saw Sanskar’s face “It’s only been 2 days since you met her bhai, but still I am asking this” Sanskar waited for Laksh to finish his question “Do you like her?” he asked. “I promised Ragini that I would never cross that line” Sanskar replied while looking at the ceiling. Laksh sighed “That’s not the answer to my question”. “There is something about her, her innocence, the way she laughs, and that giggle of hers” he smiled, then he remembered his promise to Ragini, but he realised it was too late. He had blurted out too much in front of Laksh. “Give it some time” Laksh said “She’s not like the other girls you’ve met over the years and I’m not saying all this because she’s Ragini’s sister” he turned to look at Sanskar “I feel protective towards her. She’s like this hyper bubbly kid who I always want to protect” he smiled, “Don’t rush into it bhai, be very sure before you take a step forward” Sanskar nodded in agreement. Laksh yawned “I’m off to sleep. You’re coming?” he asked, “I need to finish some work” Sanskar replied, Laksh waved and went to his room.

Swara came home and sat on the couch resting her head back, she felt someone sit beside her. “How was the party?” Sanskar asked grimly, “It was fun” she replied “I and Karan danced like maniacs” she giggled. He imagined her dancing with a guy and got upset. “Is something wrong?” she asked him “Nothing” he replied without looking at her “its late Swara, you should go sleep” he said in a steely voice. She was surprised by his behaviour, “Goodnight” she said before leaving. Sanskar sat there for a long time wondering “What is wrong with me?”

Next evening the four of them sat on the couch, when Swara said “Guys, let’s go clubbing. I’m bored of sitting in the house”. Laksh whined “Shona, please I want to stay at home”, she narrowed her eyes at him “Don’t behave like an oldie” “please let’s go Lucky. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE”. Sanskar was smiling looking at her jump like a kid; Ragini laughed at her sister’s childish behaviour “Laksh, she will persuade you until you agree to what she says. Its better you get up and get dressed” “anyway it’s been a while since, we all went out”. Laksh reluctantly agreed “C’mon bhai, we’ll never be able to win against them. Let’s get ready”. “Ragini, Swara. We have to go clubbing tonight not next week” Laksh called out to them sarcastically. “Stop shouting Laksh” Ragini said “I’m ready”. Laksh looked at her and couldn’t take his eyes off. She was wearing a pink skater dress, with black lace work on the top and black heels and left her hair open. “Close your mouth Lucky” Sanskar said, Laksh composed himself and saw Sanskar laughing at him and Ragini blushing. “Let’s go” Swara announced while coming out of the room. Sanskar looked at her and froze. She looked amazing with her black lace bodycon dress and red heels; she had her hair in loose curls. Sanskar felt as though his heart will fall out of his chest. He had seen girls who were more beautiful than her, but he had never seen the kind of innocence that she possessed, in any other girl. They went to a club and the girls started dancing. Laksh joined Swara and Ragini, while Sanskar stood at the bar tracking Swara with his eyes. The smile on her face brought a smile on his. He then noticed some guys trying to dance their way closer to her.
Swara felt a hand on her waist and she stiffened. She turned to see Sanskar holding her while he glared at some guys on the side. She understood what had happened and took his hands and gestured him to dance, to lighten his mood. He smiled at her and danced along. When they danced they forgot everything else, looking into each other’s eyes they felt complete. A pat on her shoulder broke her from the trance “Let’s do shots” Ragini said excitedly. They went to the bar counter and ordered for shots. Sanskar decided against it, all he had in his mind was that he wanted to take Swara back home safely. Laksh drank in control but he began to feel a little tipsy and so did Ragini. Sanskar decided to cut them off and drive them home, he saw Swara giggling continuously beside him and understood that even she had too much to drink. Her laugh and giggle was music to his ears. When they reached home, Laksh and Sanskar somehow managed to take Ragini to her room, and then Sanskar tucked Laksh on his bed. He came out and saw Swara on the couch, “Swara, get up I’ll help you get to your room” he said, she looked him in the eyes, he felt her gaze holding him, she took his support and stood up. He held her by the waist and she put her arms around his neck. “I don’t want to sleep” “Let’s dance” she said, “Swara, you are drunk, you should sleep now” he said while unlocking her hands, she stood there pouting like a kid, and then suddenly pushed him on the couch, leaned closer to him. It took all his will power to not kiss her at that time. “Why do I feel so close to you?” she asked him, he looked at her in shock, “Swara, I - I think you should sleep now” he said. She put a finger on his lip, he felt an electric jolt in his body “Every time I look at you, my heart skips a beat” she said in a blurry tone, she looked at her finger on his lip, then flicked her thumb over his lower lip, he froze there, you are testing my patience Swara he thought. “Why do I feel like this?” she looked at him and then passed out on his chest. He lifted her and carried her to the bed; he knelt down beside her and kissed her on her forehead. He then remembered what he had promised to Ragini and went to the living room. I am falling for you Swara Gadodia, and I need to stop before this goes any further he thought.

Little did he know that, this was just the beginning.

For The Longest Time (Episode 7)

She looked at him with hatred in her eyes “What do you want to say?”, before he could say anything she continued “Let me tell you, you’ll say I’m sorry Swara for hurting you, I will do whatever you say to gain your forgiveness, you don’t know the pain I have undergone when you left. Please forgive me Swara”. He loosened his grip on her shoulders and stood there dumbfounded, not understanding what to say. She kept looking at him and said “is that all or you wanted to say anything else Mr Maheshwari? You think a simple sorry will erase what you have done to me?” he stood there with guilt in his eyes, she continued speaking “Do you realise what you did was not a small mistake that I could forgo Mr Maheswari. Let me remind you, you cheated on me with another girl” she felt her legs giving up as she spoke and tears started to form in her eyes. He leapt forward to help her stand when two hands held her “Easy Shona. Let’s go I’ll drop you home” Laksh said. He gave Sanskar an angry look before leaving with her. Sanskar sat there heartbroken, he knew that apologising was not enough for the mistake he had done. But he loved her and wanted her back in his life and he would do whatever it takes.

The ride back home was painful after what had happened. “I know what bhai did to you cannot be forgiven easily, but Swara I have seen him repent for his mistake. I’ve seen him go through hell when you left.  There was a point when he had withdrawn from everyone. I thought if he continued like this he would die.” The last sentence made her heart skip a beat “I’m not telling you all this to emotionally blackmail you, but because I know that even today you love him. You both cannot live without each other Shona. You are trying to hurt him and give him the pain that you suffered because of him, but even you know for a fact that you’re hurting more than him”. They reached her apartment “You’re right lucky I am trying to hurt him. But I don’t know if I can ever let him back in my life. I have suffered and I am still suffering. You think I don’t want to be happy?” she looked at him “After what happened today, I have decided I want to change the way I have been living and behaving and just be happy. Lot of people have been hurt by me Ma, Baba, Ragini, You and Rohan. I don’t want to hurt anyone any more, Lucky” she gave a weak smile. Before getting out of the car she hugged him and said “Let’s go out tomorrow? I haven’t seen a movie in months”. He grinned and said “I actually have a surprise for you tomorrow” she narrowed her eyes and asked “What is that?” he gave a little laugh and said “Tomorrow Shona. Now go get some sleep”

Rohan was watching TV in the living room when she arrived. He looked at her and smiled; “Why didn’t you sleep? Its past 12” she asked him as she sat beside him “I wasn’t getting any sleep, so I thought I’d watch a movie” he said. She stared at the ceiling “Rohan, I’ m ready to talk about my past. If I don’t get it out of me, I can never move forward”. He looked at her “Are you sure? I mean it’s a good decision. But are you sure?” she put her head on his shoulder and said “You have been a big part of my life and my success. You have the right to know about me”. “I’m all ears” he said

She let out a sigh and spoke. “Ragini was in Mumbai for her Master’s Degree and I had taken admission in the same college. Ma and baba were sceptic to send us off initially but Ragini somehow convinced them” she smiled. “I was a year junior to her and Laksh. They both were dating at the time and were practically in a live in relationship before I came” she giggled.

Flashback

“RAGINI” she shouted excitedly when coming out of the arrival gate. “SHONAAA” she heard in response. They both hugged each other and then she noticed someone standing behind Ragini, she gave a questioning look to Ragini. She then blushed and introduced him “Swara this is Laksh. He is a good friend”, Swara understood and teasingly shook Laksh’s hand “Nice to meet you Good Friend” ; “as you must have guessed, I am Swara your Good Friend’s sister” and laughed. They both looked at her laughing “How old do you both think I am? I can see you guys are more than friends” she said. Ragini blushed harder and Laksh gave a sigh of relief “and you ate my head saying we’ll have to hide our relationship from her” he said while looking at Ragini. “Okay guys we can have this discussion somewhere else. I’m starving now” Swara said; “Right, let’s go” Laksh said while helping her out with the bags.

“Shona how are ma and baba, I miss them so much” Ragini asked while getting into the car. “You had a video call with them yesterday” Swara frowned “now don’t try to divert my questions” she said “I’m dying to hear this love story” she teased. “Shona” Ragini blushed; Swara looked at Laksh and asked “Seriously, how did you fall for my boring sister” Laksh laughed said “I happen to enjoy your boring sister’s company” while looking lovingly at Ragini. “We both are in the same class, I was drawn to her by her innocence and started finding reasons to meet her or bump into her after class.” “He came to talk to me under the pretence of assignments and notes. And like that our friendship developed over time” Ragini said “We became inseparable, going to college together, he would pick me up from hostel and drop me back, we had lunch and dinner together. Subconsciously we were dating each other but never professed our love” she laughed. “It took me 3 months to gather up courage to propose to your sister” Laksh said “In my mind I had an entire plan to propose to her over a candle light dinner, but fate had other plans, even before I could start working on my plan, she proposed me” he smiled. Swara gave a shocked expression to Ragini “Really?” “You proposed? I cannot believe this”. Ragini laughed at her expression and said “Yes, I proposed, if left to him he would have taken another three months to execute his grand proposal plan”. Swara giggled and asked “What did you say to him?” “Let me tell you how she proposed” Laksh interrupted “One day she came up to me in class, sat on one knee and said ‘Laksh Maheshwari, you are an idiot, you always drive me crazy, and I do not understand how I even agreed to be your friend. If I leave it to you, by the time you express your feelings I will turn 90 and I can’t wait that long. Even though you’re an idiot you are my idiot. I Love You’ and that’s how boring sister proposed to me” hearing this Swara burst out laughing. “At least I didn’t make you wait forever” Ragini said to Laksh. “I’m happy you didn’t baby” Laksh said while kissing her hand. “Ahem Ahem, I am here too” Swara said. They reached Ragini’s apartment. “Shona, there’s something more that you need to know” Ragini said hesitatingly “I and Laksh share this flat”. Swara gave her a weird expression “How were you going to hide your relationship from me when you both are living together”. “That is your sister’s and it’s beyond my understanding” Laksh said while opening the door, Swara laughed while Ragini frowned at him. “Welcome to your new home, for the next two years” Laksh announced “Get settled in your sister’s room, then we’ll go out for dinner” he said.

Months went by. Ragini, Swara and Laksh spent most of the time together after college. Laksh and Swara had become best friends. The three of them were staying together in the same flat and often partied with their common friends. One morning at breakfast “Baby, bhai is coming to town next week, he has a conference here. He’ll stay with us” Laksh told Ragini. “You better save him from me this time. It has been weeks since he even called me” she said to him. Laksh laughed and said “That is between you and him, don’t involve me”. Swara came in “Who are you guys talking about?” she asked. “Sanskar, Laksh’s brother, he is coming next week for a conference, so he will be staying with us” Ragini informed her. “Cool, anyway I’m leaving for my lectures. See your guys in the evening” she hugged Laksh, kissed Ragini on the cheek and left.

Days passed, Ragini and Laksh were having dinner at their apartment, when the bell rang. Ragini opened the door “Look who’s here” she announced. Sanskar hugged her “Do I know you mister?” she asked in a sarcastic tone “I know you’re angry sweetheart, but I was busy with work and you know how I forget everything during work. Now let me in or I’ll freeze here.” She smiled and let him in “We missed you”, just then Laksh came to the living room “BHAI” he hugged him excitedly. “Come to the table I’ll set out dinner for you” Ragini said to Sanskar.

The three of them were having dinner and talking when Swara came in “Sorry I am late, but there was so much traffic. Is there any food left for me or you both hogged it all” she looked up to see a new member at their dining table “Oh hello, I didn’t know we had a guest over today” she smiled at him. “Shona, he’s my brother, Sanskar” Laksh informed her. She looked at him and smiled “Hi, nice to meet you” she said as she sat beside Ragini. “She’s Swara Ragini’s sister” Laksh introduced him. Sanskar could not take his eyes off her. “Lucky, I need your help with some assignments. I’ve to submit them tomorrow” Swara asked him. “Sure, show me what’s the problem” Laksh said. “Both of you first have your dinner and then go” scolded Ragini. “We’ll have our dinner while working” Swara said. Laksh and Swara went to the living room. Ragini noticed Sanskar and snapped her fingers in front of Sanskar’s eyes “What are you looking at?” she questioned. He composed himself and said “I was thinking how you can have such a bubbly sister?” he teased her. “Shut up. Have your dinner” she laughed.

Late at night, Swara was in the living room sipping coffee and reading a novel. Sanskar too came into the living room, he couldn’t sleep. He saw Swara reading and said “what are you doing up so late” she looked up at him “Hi, actually I wasn’t getting any sleep, so I thought I’d read a book.” He sat beside her, facing her and asked “so which book are you reading?” “Bloodline” she replied “why are you up so late. If I’m not wrong you have a conference tomorrow right?” she asked him. “Yeah, I usually don’t get sleep before any conference or presentation” he replied. She giggled and said “so even an entrepreneur like you gets nervous before a big day”. He fell in love with the way she giggled and laughed. “Of course, everyone gets nervous before their big day”. “You want some coffee?” she asked him. “No I’m fine” he replied. They both talked for a long time and didn’t realise when they fell asleep on the couch. Laksh and Ragini were shocked to see both of them on the couch. “Laksh, I don’t want Shona to get hurt. Please make Sanskar understand that. He has commitment issues and I don’t want Shona to go through that emotional rollercoaster” Ragini said. Laksh nodded and said “Don’t worry, I will talk to him”

For the Longest Time (Episode 6)

Back at their apartment Swara was enraged at Rohan. She glared at him while he got coffee for both of them and coolly sat on the couch opposite to her, “What the hell were you thinking Rohan?” she asked; “who gave you the permission to take decisions for me? Because of you now I have to go to Laksh’s house and I don’t need to mention that Sanskar will be there too”. He casually looked at her “Do you how long it has been since you last smiled with your heart? I’ll tell you, it has been 4 years, 4 bloody years Swara” he looked at her, hearing this she tamed down a little, she was about to speak but Rohan cut her off “Today when you met Laksh I saw the same genuine happy smile that I saw four years ago, and I will not allow you to forgo that for some guy who hurt you in the past”; “Have you ever thought how I feel when I look at you? You think I don’t realise that everyday morning you wake up and stare at the mirror for a long time searching for that cheerful Swara Gadodia that once existed?”  she sat there with a shocked expression, he continued speaking “After four years I saw a glimpse of that old happy Swara that you once were, and I will do whatever it takes to bring  her back, I don’t need your or anyone else’s permission for that matter”. It had been years but she had never realised how much her behaviour hurt Rohan, he never let her sense his emotions. She looked at him and said “Boy, I never knew you could get angry” she said in a teasing way, to lighten the mood, she went and sat beside him, put her head on his shoulder “You’re right, I should not let Sanskar control my happiness. I promise that I’ll start fresh, leaving the past behind”; “now c’mon cheer up, I don’t like this angry avatar of yours” he sighed and put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head lightly “finally I could put some sense in that little brain of yours” ; “now drink up the coffee before it turns colder than ice” she giggled and drank up her coffee. After chatting for a while and then went to sleep.

Morning at Sanskar’s apartment

“Lucky wake up wake up” Sanskar was excitedly waking up Laksh; “Get out of my room Bhai, let me sleep” he whined. But Sanskar was too excited to listen to him “Lucky you have to pick Swara today, GET UP” even though he was half asleep, Laksh could hear the excitement in Sanskar’s voice “Bhai, I have to pick her up in her evening. You on the other hand should be in office now” he said while reluctantly getting out of bed. He then saw Sanskar standing there with a naughty smile, and asked “What’s your plan?” He laughed and asked “How did you know I have a plan?” Laksh looked at him and said “With that look on your face even a kid can make out you have a plan” “So what is it?” he asked again. Sanskar smiled and said “Don’t get your car to pick her up, tell her it’s in the garage and then you both will come in my car” Laksh laughed and said “That’s a pretty juvenile plan. She’s not stupid bhai. Nevertheless I’ll do that”. Sanskar gave his broad cheerful smile hugged Laksh “I knew it, you would never refuse me” and left for office.

Swara’s Apartment

Swara got up with a new enthusiasm that day, her talk with Rohan the previous night gave her new energy to work towards being happy once again, finding that old Swara she had lost years ago. She smiled at her reflection in the mirror and thought I’m going to change the way I dress, I’m bored of my own look now. She wore a casual semi-formal black round neck top and black jeans, put on diamond studs in her ears and wore heels and went to call Rohan. He looked at her amused and said “You look great today” she smiled and thanked him.  They left for office.

At Gadodia Industries

Just as they entered the lift, Sanskar also rushed in at the same time. “Good morning Mr Maheshwari” Rohan wished him “Good Morning Rohan, and please don’t be so formal. You can call me Sanskar” he smiled. “Good Morning Swara” he looked at her “Good morning Mr Maheshwari” she replied in an indifferent tone. He stared at her she was looking like he had seen her years ago, he could see the glimpse of his Swara today. He smiled and thought to himself sulk all that you want; today I’ll have you all for myself without this disturbance around. The rest of the day went on with all meetings and presentations. Swara and Sanskar were at their best professional behaviour with each other.

Evening

“There’s a pickup for Ms Gadodia” Laksh said in a funny tone while she was engrossed in a presentation. She looked up and saw him “You’re here already, I thought you were coming in the evening” Laksh sat down on the chair opposite to her “Madam have you seen the time? Its 7 already” just then Rohan and Sanskar entered the cabin “I didn’t realise where the time went by. Give me 2 minutes I’ll just sort all this”; “Take your time” she said to her, and then turned to look at Sanskar “Bhai are you also done with your work?” he asked. Sanskar smiled and replied “Yeah. Why?” “Because my car broke down so you will have to give me and Shona a ride home” Swara froze for a second and looked at Rohan. He signalled her to calm down and go, she gave a faint smile and said “Laksh I’m done. Let’s leave?”  Sanskar notice the exchange between Rohan and her and got irritated. Laksh got up and said “Let’s leave” and looked questioningly at Sanskar. He nodded and said “Let’s go”. Swara picked up her bag went to Rohan kissed him on the cheek “I’m leaving now. See you at night” he hugged her and said “have a nice time”. While looking at both of them Sanskar was picturing a thousand ways he could kill Rohan that very moment for touching his Swara. Laksh noticed this and gave him a nudge and then the three of them walked to Sanskar’s car. Laksh sat in the front with Sanskar and Swara sat behind diagonal to Laksh. Sanskar adjusted his mirror to see her. She knew he was gazing her but ignored him.

At Sanskar’s Apartment

“Welcome to our bachelor pad Shona” Laksh announced. She giggled and entered after him and Sanskar entered after her. He loved to hear her giggle. They settled in the living room after Laksh showed her the house. The entire time Sanskar kept staring at her. He was happy that she was in front of him smiling and laughing. Laksh suddenly asked in a serious tone “Why didn’t you call me Shona? Wasn’t I a good friend to you?” she hesitated and Sanskar understood she was hesitating because of him and he got up and left them alone, but he could listen to them talking from his room. She said “Lucky you did nothing wrong, I just wanted to get away from everything and everyone that reminded me of him. It wasn’t easy for me to leave you and Ragini behind like that. But I had to do it” she said with a quivering tone. He put his arm around her “All said and done you have promised me you will never do that again. Don’t forget that” she smiled and said “I won’t”. Laksh looked a little sceptic, she noticed his expression and asked “What is bothering you?” he said “I want to ask you something but promise me you will be honest with me” she nodded in agreement, he said “What’s the scene between you and Rohan?” she looked at him and sighed “there is no scene between us Lucky” “it is completely platonic. But we have been working in close proximity with each other since the past few years, so we have a mutual liking for each other” “and the way he has been my backbone during my struggle and accepted every decision of mine without questioning, I don’t think anyone would have done that for me” Sanskar listened to this and felt jealousy take over his senses I despise that guy he thought.

Suddenly Laksh’s phone rang “Give me a moment Shona this is an important call” she nodded and signalled him that she’s going to the balcony. Swara stood in the balcony staring at the night sky; she felt a presence behind her and turned to see Sanskar standing. She stiffened and said “Mr Maheshwari, please get out of my way” but he didn’t budge from his place. He took her hand and dragged her to his room which was attached to the balcony. He pinned her to the wall, held her shoulders and said “You are not going anywhere till you hear me out. I’m tired of your indifference Swara. I cannot take it anymore”. They both share an eye lock.

Finally he thought

For The Longest time (Episode 5)

At Swara’s apartment
Swara reached the apartment and called up her mother, this was the only way to divert her mind from all that had happened today , she was praying for her mother not to be angry, it had been years since she went back home. The only way she met her parents was by video calling, someday she hoped, when all her pain would wear off, she would go back to her normal happy life. “Hello” hearing the voice brought tears to her eyes; she composed herself and spoke “Ma, how are you?”; “Shona” she could hear the quiver in her mother’s voice; “Do you realise how many days it has been since you last called” she scolded, “I and aba are very angry with you” Swara smiled at her mother’s complaints, hearing Sramishtha’s voice made here feel like she was back to her home “Ma, stop talking for a second and ask Ragini to switch on the video call” she hear a faint voice calling out to Ragini. When the video call started she could see her father looking at her with pain in his eyes, for this was the only medium by which he had seen his daughter in the last four years; “Look at how thin you have become, are you not eating properly Shona?” asked her father; “Baba, I have been eating properly and I’m totally fit, you look like you haven’t slept in weeks. I know you haven’t been taking your medicines properly” she asked him sternly. If there was anyone who could speak in such a stern tone with Shekhar Gadodia they were his daughters, whom he loved immensely. Ragini spoke up from behind “he hasn’t been taking his medicines Swara, now only you can explain him” she said; “Baba, why are you not taking care of your health?” she asked; “so that you come back home to take care of me” he said with tear forming in his eyes. She couldn’t help but cry “I’m sorry ma, baba for hurting you both so much”; “Shona don’t cry, you can never hurt us. It’s just that we miss you very much” her mother said; “I know ma, I miss you all too”; “Enough of this melodrama” Ragini interrupted “I have a surprise for you” she announced excitedly; “What is that?” Swara asked. But Ragini was in no mood to give away the surprise “You will get to know tomorrow” she said, knowing well that Swara could never handle suspense; before Swara could ask anything “You can at least tell me” Rohan said; “ROOOOOO” Ragini shouted with excitement “How are you” she asked. He sat down beside Swara “I’m well and good” he smiled at Ragini; “Hello uncle aunty, hope you guys are doing well” he said. Shekhar and Shramishtha smiled at him ‘We are well, knowing that you are taking good care of Shona” Shekhar said. He smiled at them “Till I’m here you don’t have to worry about her uncle”. Before she got even more emotional Swara said “Ma, baba I’ll call you tomorrow. Ragini Take care of Ma, baba and yourself too” she smiled. They smiled at her with pain in their eyes “We will be fine Swara. You take care of yourself” Ragini spoke for their parents “Bye Shona” and the call ended.

At night
It took a while for Swara to compose herself after speaking to her family; they both sat in silence for a while. I think I should take her out for dinner, it will change her mood a bit Rohan thought; “Anita is on a leave today. Let’s go out for dinner?” he asked her. She thought for a few minutes and agreed. She needed a change in the environment. The day had been very stressful for her. They both got ready and walked down to a little Chinese restaurant near their house. They often went that restaurant and the owners had become very familiar to both of them. They sat at their regular booth and waited for their food to arrive. They had a light hearted conversation, both were laughing and talking. Both of them needed this change of mood after a heavy day.

At Sanskar’s Apartment

He came home in a very bad mood. Every time he tried to come close to Swara, she shot him down. He didn’t know what he could do to get her to listen to him. He sat in his room sulking and frustrated. Laksh entered his room and saw Sanskar in a bad shape; he thought to cheer him up “Bhai, I’m bored. Let’s go out for dinner”, Sanskar looked at him irritated “Laksh, get out. I’m not in the mood”; Laksh didn’t flinch “C’mon bhai, get some fresh air. I know you’re frustrated. Going out will change your mood a bit”. He pulled Sanskar out of the bed “Get up and get ready, I’ll take you to a nice Chinese restaurant” he said while pushing him into the washroom. “Get ready, we’ll leave in 10 minutes” he said. Sanskar could never win over Laksh. He loved his brother immensely and would always fulfil all his wishes. Unwillingly he got ready and they left.

At the Restaurant

“Hi, we need a table for two” Laksh said to the manager. The manager escorted them to a table. As they were about to sit, Sanskar spotted Rohan and Swara at a corner table. The sight of them laughing together, made him angry. So he makes her laugh and I repel her he though bitterly. Laksh noticed the direction Sanskar was looking in, he also spotted Rohan and Swara, looked at Sanskar and said “No wonder you turned red again”, then he started moving towards, “Where do you think you are going?” Sanskar asked him; “To meet an old friend” Laksh replied “I thought you must have strangled this guy by now” he said teasingly before walking to Swara’s table, Sanskar followed him. “Excuse me Mam, I once had a friend who happens to looks exactly like you” Laksh said. Rohan looked puzzled, Swara turned back to see Laksh. Seeing him after so many years was very over whelming for her; “LAKSH” she shouted and hugged him, he hugged her back “You never looked back Shona, not even for me” he said with tears in his eyes .Swara cried while hugging him, he could feel her shaking “Shhh, relax, I was just kidding” he broke the hug and held her by shoulders “How are you Lucky?” she asked while wiping her tears. Rohan saw Sanskar standing behind Laksh “Mr Maheswari, this is an unexpected encounter” he walked to Sanskar and shook his hand. Sanskar gave a fake smile. “I’m great as always, you on the other hand look as though you have been starved for weeks now” Laksh said. “By the way meet Rohan, he is my business partner and a close friend” she introduced Rohan to Laksh, “Rohan, meet Laksh my best friend” she smiled. I haven’t seen her smile genuinely for a long time thought Rohan. “Hi Rohan, nice to meet you” he shook hands with him; “then he looked at Sanskar and asked in a teasing way “You guys know each other?”; Sanskar glared at him and said “Yes, lucky we know each other”; he looked at Rohan who was very confused with all that was happening “He is my brother” said Sanskar, Rohan smiled and nodded. Sanskar looked at Swara and she wasn’t even looking at him. Laksh noticed this and thought of an idea “Shona you have to come over tomorrow, we need to catch up. I won’t take no for an answer” he said. This immediately lit up Sanskar’s face, he looked at Swara expectantly. Rohan sensed Swara was about to deny Laksh’s offer and he interrupted before she could speak “Yes, she will be there” Laksh stared at him in surprise, Swara glared at him “Rohan I have work tomorrow” ; Sanskar was trying very hard to control his anger, how dare he decide for her he thought. Laksh said “I’ll pick you up after work”; Rohan smiled and said “that’s a good idea”; “Great so I’ll pick you up tomorrow and that’s final” Laksh declared. She sighed and agreed “Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow. I will text you the address. Give me your number” she said. Laksh smirked and said “Some friend you are. You don’t even have my number” he teased; she lightly hit him on this arm and smiled. Sanskar loved to see her smile. She then looked and Rohan and said “Let’s leave, we’re getting late”. She hugged Laksh and kissed him lightly on the cheek “Bye Lucky, I’ll see you tomorrow” he hugged her back “Bye Shona” and whispered in her ear “Don’t you ever disappear on me again” he warned her. She smiled and said “Never” and left with Rohan.

Looking at her leave with Rohan enraged him, he then looked at Laksh and gave a big smile like a kid “Thank you thank you thank you kiddo” he said excitedly. Laksh laughed at his expression “Feed me now, I’m starving”.

I can finally talk to her tomorrow and she will have to listen to me he thought.

For the Longest Time - (Episode 4)

At Swara’s Apartment

She came out of her room and saw breakfast on the table; “Anita, please get my coffee” she said while sitting on the table “and please check if Rohan Sir is awake”. She was reading the newspaper when someone handed her the coffee, “Your coffee madam” said Rohan. She was taken aback “Where is Anita? Why did you get the coffee?” she asked him. He sat in the chair opposite to her and sipped his coffee “Anita has taken an off today. She is not well” he informed her; “So did you make the breakfast? You should have woken me up Rohan” she said; “Swara, please shut up and please eat”. They ate in silence.

I need to talk to him she thought. Somehow she gathered the courage to speak to him about it; “Rohan, I need to talk to you about something” before she could speak any further, he cut her off “You want to leave again, I figured it out yesterday itself” she looked at him in surprise. He continued eating and said “And the answer is no. You’re not going away this time”; she tried to say something but he cut her off “There is going to be no argument regarding this Swara. I have never asked you the reason for your need of moving away from a place in the past and I will not ask the reason even today. But I will not let you go either” he said while getting up from the table. She sighed and thought he is right, I can’t run forever, she got up and went to the kitchen and said “You’re right, I can’t keep running like this forever” he turned to look at her, she continued “I’m sorry for the trouble I have given you over the years Rohan”; “You have never questioned me about my decisions and I will not go against your decision now”, she looked at him and continued “But there is something you need to know”. He eyed her curiously, she said “Sanskar Maheshwari is the reason I have been running for all these years. Yesterday I came face to face with my past Rohan” she tried to figure out his expression and continued “I have never told this to anyone except Ragini and now you know a part of it”; “Someday I will tell you about my past, when I’m strong enough to say it out loud. But for now all you need to know is that I need you with me at all times. Do you promise?” she waited for him to speak up. He sighed and said “What else have been doing all these years, you idiot. Of course I‘ll be there with you. Now go get dressed, we’re getting late”. She hugged him and started to leave “Oh and aunty had called; you haven’t spoken to her in days. Call her up” he said; “I’ll call her tonight” she smiled and left.

At Sanskar’s Apartment

He woke up early today; the truth was he couldn’t sleep the entire night. He was going to see Swara again today and everyday here onwards; the thought brought a smile to his face. He went to the breakfast table and saw his brother was already there; “Oh My God, Laksh! Are you alright?” he said and smiled. Laksh frowned and said “Bhai, keep the sarcastic comments to yourself otherwise you won’t get the information you wanted”; Sanskar stiffened “Did you get the information?” he asked; Laksh smirked and said “C’mon bhai, don’t insult my abilities by doubting them”; he saw Sanskar getting impatient and continued speaking “ Rohan Sharma, CEO of Gadodia Industries and Swara Gadodia’s best friend. They have been working together for five years now and started the company four years ago. They live together”, hearing the last sentence, Sanskar’s blood boiled “What do you mean live together?” he asked through his teeth. Laksh noticed this change and said “Relax bhai, they share the same flat. Their friendship is completely platonic. Although, there were talks of marriage in between.” He again looked at Sanskar. His face was so red it seemed he would explode; “Will you please stop turning red after every sentence. They refused to get married.” Sanskar visibly relaxed a bit; Laksh continued “But there is one thing you need to know. I think Rohan loves Swara”; Sanskar looked at him and raised a brow “What makes you say that?”; “Call it a hunch” Laksh said casually “try not to kill him” he added with a smirk. Sanskar picked up his keys “I’m getting late. See you in the evening kiddo”; “Bye” Laksh said while stuffing his face.

At office

Rohan and Swara reached office and just then Sanskar entered. She walked past him to her cabin and left Rohan to deal with him. Rohan greeted him “Good Morning Mr Maheshwari. Let me show you your cabin”, with a lot of effort Sanskar gave out a fake smile and followed him. His cabin was beside Swara and Rohan’s cabin. The thought of Swara and Rohan in such proximity made him see red, but he controlled himself; “Mr Sharma, I will need all the documents pertaining to previous year’s assessment. We will meet after lunch for the future business plan” he said; “Sure, I will have Sally to get all the files to you and in case you need anything, I’ll be in the cabin beside. See you after lunch Mr Maheshwari”; “Mr Sharma can you please ask Ms Gadodia to help in understanding the company’s details, I will need some help to begin with” he said coolly. Rohan hesitated “Sure sir, I will ask Swara to help you. I’ll take your leave now” he leaves. Sanskar smiles to himself thinking finally I’ll be with her alone without anyone’s interference.

“Are you crazy Rohan? I am not going to sit with him in the same cabin” she snarled. Rohan looked helpless “I am sorry but he requested me and I couldn’t refuse. He the biggest investor we have right now Swara. We have to do what he says. Please do this for the company’s sake” he begged her. He saw how angry she was but they had no choice.

Reluctantly she went to Sanskar’s cabin “You needed my help with something Mr Maheswari?” she asked. He grinned and said “Swara, please come” before he could say anything else she cut him off and introduced two colleagues to him “Mr Iyer will help you with all the accounts and finance related details and Mrs Gupta will help you with the other details. Hope you have a good day Mr Maheshwari and in case you need anything else please talk to Rohan, he will help you out” she said and stormed out of the cabin. Sanskar stood there dumbstruck and with a pained expression on his face.

She went back to her cabin, closed the door and stood there shivering with anger and resentment, Rohan looked at her in shock and held her “Swara, are you alright? Calm down” he made her sit and drink water; “It’s alright. Relax” he calmed her down. She looked at him and broke down “I can’t handle this Rohan”; he hugged her and said “You can and you will handle this. I’m here with you”. She broke the hug and said “I’m sorry’, I just need some time”; “I will work from home today. See you at dinner” she said picked up her bag and she left.

Sanskar saw her leaving and thought to himself you will have to give me a chance Swara, I won’t take no for an answer. You will have to leave Mr Maheshwari; I will never give you another chance to break my heart she thought

For The Longest Time (Episode 3)

Gadodia Industries

After signing the papers, Swara was about to leave with Rohan when the door opened and she saw him. Time stopped when they looked at each other. Five years, since they saw each other, five years of pain, five of loneliness, five years of desperation; it all came back in that one moment when their eyes met. She broke the eye lock and noticed that she had tightened her fist around Rohan’s arm, it was then she realised that she was standing because of his strong grip that held her.

The advocate then spoke up “Ms Gadodia, please meet Mr Sanskar Maheshwari, the Managing Director of Maheswari industries and the new investor of Gadodia Industries”; she couldn’t muster up courage to speak up. Rohan noticed this and spoke for her “Thank you Mr Maheswari, for investing in our company. I know it was very risky decision considering the amount of losses in, but we assure you won’t regret your decision” he said. Swara was still clinging to his arm and made it a point not to look in his direction.

Sanskar noticed how she was avoiding him, she looked so weak and so fragile; it seemed like she could break down at any moment. He walked towards Rohan and Swara, shook Rohan’s hand and said “I don’t take any decision without calculating the risk Mr Sharma, I have complete faith in Ms Gadodia and her team” he said as he looked at her.

“Thank you, Mr Maheswari for investing in our company” she said without looking at him. Sanskar was about to speak when she cut him off “Rohan please let’s leave. I need to get out of here”; “Sure, let’s go home” he said. “We’ll take your leave Mr Maheshwari. See you tomorrow” he shook hands with Sanskar and left with Swara. Sanskar gave a forced smile and saw them as they walked away.

If Sanskar could express himself right now, the entire office would be in ruins. The way Rohan had his arm around Swara, if it was for him he would have cut it off then and there. But what hurt the most was the way she avoided him, like he didn’t exist in that space. I need to figure out a way to get her to talk to me he thought

“Mr Shaw” he turned to the advocate; “What is Mr Sharma in this company? Are they related?”; “Mr Sharma is the CEO of the company and Ms Gadodia’s closest associate, they started this company together four years ago” Shaw informed. Close associate? That doesn’t answer my question he thought “Thank you Mr Shaw. Please send the papers to my office tomorrow” and leaves from there.

Rohan Sharma, I need to figure out who he is to Swara he thought. He took out his phone and dialled a number “Hello? Listen I need information on Rohan Sharma, CEO of Gadodia Industries ASAP” he said; “Thanks, I knew I could trust you. Bye”

At Night

That night both of them could not sleep. They had come face to face with each other after all these years. I need to leave she thought. I can’t let her leave again he thought

For The Longest Time (Episode 2)

He stared out the window, recollecting his past. He always thought that money could buy everything. There was nothing that Sanskar Maheswari could not afford. The hunger and passion that he possessed, to be the most powerful person and helped him achieve great heights. His ambition took him places; he had never imagined he would ever see. He never stopped learning, always took new lessons from every experience, and that is what kept him prepared for every situation.

He loved his family immensely and could do anything for them. He always made sure that he provided them with every luxury and kept them protected at all times, specially his younger brother. He was always thankful for their support at all times. The trust his father had shown in him, the first time he announced his ambition of wanting to start his own business, was overwhelming. The emotional support that his mom gave him at all times was more than her could ask for.

Sanskar Maheswari had it all and never thought he needed anyone else in his life; fate was going to prove him wrong on that cold winter evening, when he crossed path with that one person, who had entered his life to stay, forever. Swara Gadodia. She made him realise the emptiness in his life. She made him yearn for a companion. He fell in love with her simplicity; he fell in love with the way he could be himself with her. She made him believe in love, he found happiness in her. She entered his life like a breeze and then, she vanished from his life into thin air.

He made every possible attempt to trace her, but with no results. It was like searching for an oasis in middle of a dessert. But he had to find her at any cost; he had to tell her how sorry he was for breaking her heart, how sorry he was for hurting her. Over the years he came close to finding her, but somehow she managed to vanish again. It took him years to find her and when he did, he did not want to take a chance and lose her again. This time he was going to make everything alright, no matter what it takes.

His thoughts were interrupted by a phone call, the name Advocate Shaw flashed on the screen; “Hello Mr Maheshwari, the deal is done. Ms Gadodia has agreed to sign the acquisition papers and has accepted to all conditions” he informed Sanskar; “Thank you very much for helping me with this Mr Shaw. We’ll sign the papers tomorrow at 10 am, at Ms Gadodia’s office. Please inform them” he said and disconnected the call. It felt as though his heart might leap out of his chest, that is how happy he was.

This is it, he thought. Tomorrow after 5 years I will meet Swara and I will not let her go. Ever Again.

For The Longest Time (Episode 1)

She sat staring at her reflection on blank computer screen, wondering how she came this far, wondering how she could gather the courage to keep moving when everything started to fall apart. It was hard and a long journey, but she finally made it. She had strived hard for her success, worked day and night to achieve all her milestones; and she did. She succeeded in every venture and kept moving forward. Swara Gadodia was unstoppable.
Where she was today, it all felt like a dream. She hoped and prayed for it to be a dream, but it was the harsh reality. She was going to lose everything she had built, everything she had worked for, every achievement of hers. It seemed like this nightmare would never end. She prayed for it to end, but time stood still. It was as if time was mocking her and enjoying her helplessness.
A knock on the door, brought her back to reality. She looked up and saw her secretary at the door. Sally had been working with her for five years now and had been her most trusted associate; “Come in, Sally” she said; “Mam, Advocate Shaw has just arrived, he is waiting for you in the conference room”.  The moment that she had been dreading was here. She composed herself and said “I’ll be there in a minute”, “Sally has Rohan come?” she asked. “Yes mam, he is also in the conference room with the Advocate”. She smiled in response and thought “Of course he is here”
She entered the conference room; the Advocate had drawn up the acquisition papers. She looked at the papers and thought “One sign and I hand over everything I worked for all these years”. Her hand trembled as she held the pen to sign the papers, then she felt a comforting hand on her shoulder. It was Rohan; he could always see through her, he knew exactly what she was going through. But holding her was all he could do right now. She was thankful that he was here; there was only so much she could do to compose herself.
After all the papers were signed, she felt numb. She could not digest all that just happened. But little did she know that the worst was yet to come. She would have to face the one person she had been avoiding all her life; that one person who she wished should never come in front of her; that one person who made her hate herself; because even after what he did to her, she could not stop loving him. Sanskar Maheshwari.
